Jesus— I John 4:9 God’s love was revealed among us in this way: God sent His One and Only Son into the world so that we might live through Him. HCSB

The word translated “revealed” comes from the Greek word “pha ne roo” which means— to make visible what is invisible.

How do we really know if somebody loves us?

Authentic Love for others is an action or series of actions that make the attribute of love which is invisible— visible!

We know God has Authentic Love for us— God made His love for us—visible to us— by sending His One and Only Son so that we might live through Him.

When we live through Him (Jesus) — The love of Jesus that is in us will be visible through us!

Authentic love for others is more than just words it is VISIBLE ACTION!

The story of Wanda Dench and Jamal Hinton is a pleasant reminder of what authentic love really looks like. Authentic love that is fleshed out through life experience is not limited by skin color, ethnicity, socio-economic status or any other perceived barrier. Here is what happened on Thanksgiving Day 2016. Wanda Dench texted a number that had originally been her grandson’s, inviting him over for a Thanksgiving meal. Instead of her grandson, the text went to 17 year-old Jamal Hinton. The two figured out the mistake quickly, but Jamal asked if it was possible to “still get a plate.” In grandmotherly fashion, Mrs. Dench responded, “Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do.”

When asked about the encounter after Thanksgiving, Jamal said, “I’m thankful for all the nice people in the world. I never met her … and she welcomed me into her house, so that shows me how great of a person she is.” Citation: “Woman Shares Thanksgiving with Teen She Accidentally Invited,” Yahoo News, 11-25-16

If the church takes as its mission to make the love of God visible— May the world say about the church what Jamal said about Mrs, Dench— I’m thankful for all the [Christ Followers] in the world. I’ve never met her … and she welcomed me into her house, so that shows me [the love God has for her— she has made visible to me.”

Authentic love for others is more than just words it is VISIBLE ACTION!
